The cost of supplying refractories in manufacturing some product is considerable and this is a motive force for foundation and development of refractorise industry.

Iran refractories company was established in 1972 by joint of H.W.omd irefco to provide refractories for growing industries in iran.

The main industries using irefco product are:

Iron and steel , cement, aluminum ,copper ,foundry ,glass ,tile and ceramic plaster,sugar,oil and petrochemicals and all other having high temperture process.

Irefco is the unige largest  producer  of refractories in middle-east and is located in the central part of iran near very famous historical city of Isfahan.

The first production line of the plant has capacity of 32000 tons per year while the second fully automatic one for basic bricks has a capacity of about 22000 tons per year and the third line of production in irefco recently started was designed and implemented for production of magnesia –carbon and magnesia –impregnated bricks about 20000 tons per year in tottaly more then 70000 ton/year.

Irefco, is one of the few plants in the world producing fireclay ,high alumina and basic bricks as well as monolithic under one roof at the same plant ,the production lines which capable of producing bricks are:

Press production line , air ram &casting production line , and monolithic in all categories such as: mortars ,castables gunning and ramming mixes , plastics and grain sized materials which are producing with filling bags and extruder production lines.

-one full hydraulic press of 2000 mt

-one full hydraulic press of 1600 mt

-four fully automatic presses of 1250 mt

-three friction presses of 1200 mt

-one hydraulic press of 800 mt

-two mechanical toggle presses of 800 mt

-one hydraulic press of 600 mt

-one hydraulic press of 350 mt

-a fully automatic tunnel klin with max.process temperature of 1850 c.

-one tempering klin with capacity of 20000 mt/ year mgo-c bricks.

-An intermittent shuttle dryer with 22 kiln cars.

-three shuttle klins with max. process temperature of 1600 c and 1800 c.

-a tar –impregnation vessel.

-a hot tunnel for shrink –wrapping.

-a rotary chamotte kiln for calcining fire –clays

-a unit for expansion of  perlite .

Other unit are:

A workshope consist of different machine tool and  a heat treatment furnace for mould making.

A laboratory equipped for quality control.

Research center including chemistry , thermophysic &mineralogy labs and library.
